Match Race

We sail with the DS37 Matchracer, a boat model specifically designed for match racing. The boats have been used during the Match Cup in Marstrand for many years. What makes the DS37 different from many other boats is its open and easy-to-work layout as well as its ability to perform extremely fast maneuvers. There is space for 6 guests plus a skipper from us.

Match Race

In a classic match race, we set up a course with start, upwind, and downwind marks. A maximum of 6 people per team, and a team leader is also appointed. We staff the boats with our skilled and experienced skippers. (Who hate to lose) In a classic match race, we lay out a course with start, upwind, and downwind marks. Those not sailing follow the matches from land or from the support boat. All teams get to sail at least two matches depending on time and weather. The first match determines if you end up in the A or B final. After half the time, we take a short break before the finals where we serve coffee and pastries to everyone. After the races, we have a prize ceremony at the dock with medals, cheers, and champagne for the winning team. (It sometimes happens that the team leader takes a dip in the sea) If the wind exceeds 10 m/s, we can cancel the event without charge.
